Clicking on the “Follow Up” tab in the top toolbar takes you to the evaluation environment in Forecast Studio, which includes tools for evaluating saved forecasts and weighting together weather forecasts in an optimal fashion. If the configuration you are logged in as is set to save forecast data (this is set in the file serversettings.xml on the web server, see the installation instructions), every time an export is run a binary file will also be saved which contains information on the export and the forecast data at the time of the export. These are saved to the data directory in the “prog” folder. When you click on the “Follow Up” tab, all these saved files will be displayed in the window in the bottom left of the screen. By way of introduction, we will look at how to evaluate five simple cases which can then be combined as required to form considerably more complex scenarios. Finally, we will show you how to change the weighting for live forecasts.
1. Evaluate exported forecast and manual adjustments
2. Evaluate preliminary fractions against final ones
3. Evaluate forecasts after forecast horizon
4. Evaluate different weather forecasts
5. Change weighting for live forecasts
