Time reference

In the field “Time reference”, the time reference of the data to be imported is entered.

By “wall-clock time” is meant local time with summer and winter time changeover. If the time references “UTC” or “Normal” time are used, Aiolos Forecast Studio interprets the import file without changeover between summer and winter time.

The difference between UTC and Normal time is that for UTC the time difference from UTC and the day light saving time is added for the presentation in AFS. For “Normal” time only the day light saving time is added.

The indication “start” indicates that hour 01 in the data file is to be regarded as the hour between 01.00 and 02.00. The indication “end” indicates that hour 01 in the data file is to be regarded as the hour between 00.00 and 01.00.

In AFS, the time reference is converted the local (wall clock) time specified in the model properties (Hours before UTC). This is the time reference with which Aiolos presents data.

An empty field for Hour before UTC is interpreted as 0 hours before UTC.
